It's funny how its difficult to tell the difference between schemes such as Castlemilk, Drumchapel, and Easterhouse during those times. I wonder if the designer got more money for originality.
Good point about how time can make things different to the reality Janny. I was always up at my cousins place in Provanhall in Easterhouse, and I must say that looking back it really was a dump. But because we were brought up amongst it we did not notice it at the time. Most people who are a bit fortunate have good memories of their youth and where they were brought up. But most would not go back to the same place for anything.
These are fab and as has already been commented, the streets, gardens and flats are all part of our collective youth. All been pulled down now, a good thing I suppose ? - nostalgia plays tricks and you remember things as being better than they probably were!
I didn't notice the Globbies MKI crash helmet until you pointed it out there Lammy.
You should post if off to the current one's but I am not so sure if they shout from the rooftops about being originally totally Mod. I imagine none of the original Mods from 1980 are now with the current crop.
Chris, don't know if you noticed, but Steve has a Globies, hand painted of course, helmet on on number nine of my photo's above. Do you think the Globies would like to put it onto their site, maybe under club history? LiLi
Great stuff Lammy and Steveo1. The front court looks the exact same as others in Easterhouse, and maybe Drumchapel. These photo's are a treasure and it is great that we have some to look back on,
One thing I have to ask you cool dudes's is 'where the hell is over the dyke' or is that getting personal ?
Thanks Jimmy for putting Stevie's photo's on, your a fast worker, I only just sent them. The photos are all taken in Castlemilk except for number 10, which was taken at Isle of Wight 2006, some wee geezer called Jimmy left his scooter parked up and Stevie jumped on for a photo shoot LiLi
Green Onions, it could have been candy apples he was selling out the boot, but Stevie has confirmed that it depended on what came off the back of a lorry that week LiLi
Charlie, we won't being going to Friday St for a while, as August and Sept are busy months for Mod Do's over the dyke. Have a good one and shimmy the night away :-)
