Tribute To Jim Nairn and Drummy The Jags

As a special tribute to the above mentioned, a real blast of “powerpop” from ‘79 . “Back Of My Hand” by The Jags, which I believe should be an almighty Patrick Thistle F.C Anthem even though Nick Watkinson(vocals) John Adler( guitar/backing vocals) Steve(Dear)Prudence,lol!(Bass) and on drums Alex Baird(St, Division, Glesga!) were Londoners.

Like Thistle they never reached their full potential, but didn’t they produce a couple of belters? “Back Of My Hand” reached number 17 in ‘79 for 10 weeks, “Party Games” went by unnoticed untll your uncle Charlie dusted it down, and breathed some life into it once again. There are 2 Jags albums out there waiting to be heard, “Evening Standards” 1980 and “No Tie Like A Present” 1982.

So Drummy and Jim and all you die hard Jags fans this is for you from The Glasgow Mods, thanks for a lifetime of friendship, for memories shared, from those who dared, to be who we were, We Are The Mods!

Magicalex theres alot of good footage of The Jags on YouTube, what made you go for the twin bass drums ? not too sure about the Superman T-shirt, now the girlfriend has just confessed to buying a copy of "Back Of My Hand" when it came out, just caught her singing it !!!

I'll tell her to get her jacket..........haha

Oops my bigmouth has struck again, Sorry to hear that Michelle and i hope she turns up soon, Shes maybe back home by now if it was a while ago u met her mum, lets hope so mate. Damn thats a bit of a shock to be honest.. Hey Stevie, you spent quite a lot of your time in darkened rooms with mod girls from what i can remember lol, Maybe Quinny will know if Sharons back or not? Lets hope so. W.E.M

Magicalex are you sitting on any unreleased tracks by The Jags ? most bands from that period seem to have stuff that hasn't been released yet and it's only now that it's starting to surface ? Anything doing on the bootleg circuit regards The Jags live in concert ?

Michelle very sorry to hear about your pal Sharon going missing - she was a great girl - i remember she had us in her room listening to the Doors and Pink Floyd - that was enough to depress anybody! But I hope she has found happiness wherever she is.

Camey I've not seen Sharon for years, I met her mum last year and she told me she went out one night and never came back, her mum & dad are heartbroken. she has a wee bhoy but he stays with his dad since sharon went A.W.O.L

Nice to hear that you played one of your gigs at the main Glasgow University magicalix, I'm sure it was as good as the many gigs I saw at Strathclyde. If it was a good enough venue for the best post 60s band (The Jam) it was good enough for anyone. Talking about The Jam, I noticed in the lyrics to 'Woman's World 'Do this, Do That' which is the same as 'Billy Hunt.' Even to day All Mod Cons is my all time favourite LP, was it a big influence on the Jags ?
