Well its official Weller just won’t leave it, it’s clear that he is the one that caused the Jam problems back in the day, this MOJO piece shows that Weller is a self centred Billy Hunt and very low to be publicly trouncing his old Jam mates. shame on you ya miserable basket. The Jam put him where he is today and he needs to acknowledge that, nothing he ever did after the jam was as big period. Tosser of the week award goes to Weller.

From The Jam Say “ We’re Not Cabaret”
In last months MOJO, cover star Paul Weller had harsh words for bassist Bruce Foxton and drummer Rick Buckler, his old partners from The Jam who currently play in a new band, aptly named from the Jam, who play songs of The Jam with new vocalist Russell Hastings and guitarist Dave Moore.
“[From The Jam} is fucking bizarre,” said Weller, “They shouldleave it and move on…..to me, it’s just cabaret”
On publication the two contacted MOJO to respond, “I don’t understand the spleen venting, it’s totally out of the blue and I was shocked by it” says drummer Buckler(of whom Weller said “I couldn’t give a fuck if I never saw Rick ever again.”) “In the Jam days, we were quite a unified force. We had to be. I dunno why he’s got it in for me, we haven’t spoken since 1983! You can understand my bemusement.”
“We didn’t take it lightly when we embarked on this.” says bassist Foxton, who adds that his friendship with Weller was repaired after the formers wife fell seriously ill. “It’s two thirds of the original band playing with passion and enthusiasm. I’m very proud of these songs and that’s why were doing it. The response from the fans has been great. It’s not cabaret. And if Paul came to see us ,I’m confident he’d be impressed that we’re doing the songs justice.”
“It’s down to the strengths of Paul’s songs,” agrees Buckler, “but The Jam was a band, it wasn’t just Paul Weller. It’s a shame he’s not into the idea, but there he is playing Jam material. He’s entitled to, the same way we are. I don’t think these songs are ready to be left on the shelf yet.” With that in mind, From The Jam release the concert DVD ‘A First Class Return from the Jam’ and will tour the UK in December, by which time some “Jam-esque” originals will have crept into the set. After a public falling out, could they see themselves playing with their erstwhile singer and guitarist again? “The door will always be open,” says Foxton, who was due to see Weller’s May UK tour at the time of writing, “but it couldn’t be any clearer now that the won’t walk through it”
